Spray painting is a quick process and durable when painting your kitchen chair with Painting all those kitchen chairs leg and runs with a brush may be time-consuming compared to spraying them.

If you decided to use a chalk paint, you would need to wax and buff them. To spray paint your kitchen chair successfully, these are the things you will need Spray paint, Primer, Sandpaper & sanding block, Tack cloth, Detergent or TSP cleaner, Mask to cover nose & mouth, Eye protection goggles, Plastic sheeting to protect the floor from overspray, Optional – clear gloss sealer. Spray painting is best done outside where there is a proper ventilation to allow the fumes to escape.


Prepare your kitchen Chair-makeover
Spread out plastic sheeting, or if you are spraying only one chair, you can use a cardboard spray booth. Sand the surface of the chair you want to spray paint with medium 60 – 100 grit sandpaper.

Wash the surface very well with detergent and hot water to remove any grease or dirt. Allow it to dry. If you do not want the seat to be painted, you can mask it off with newspaper and masking tape before spray painting.

Just make sure the tape is secure, and the seat is completely covered with no open seats with the newspaper. Put tape over all the seam as you fit the paper around the seat.
Use Painter’s tape to cover the seat around the rungs.

Start Spray Painting

Cover your face with a painter’s mask and goggles before spraying. If the spray paint does not have a primer in it, spray one coat of primer over the surface and leave it to dry.

Shake the can carefully for at least one minute after ball rattles. Hold the can upright and about 10 – 15 from the surface and spray in a steady back and forth motion, slightly overlapping as you work. Make sure to keep the can in motion as you spray.

Apply two or more light coats some minutes apart and leave it to dry. If there is a need to use more paint or a clear coat to protect, do so within an hour, or you may have to wait for 24 hours before you can recoat.

If you want to use a clear coat to seal the paint, you have to follow the directions on the can, especially make sure to see how long you need to wait after the paint is dry to use a sealer over it.
